Rhythm is in his blood. Michael Beauclerc's father, also a drummer, taught him his first beats on a plastic Muppet drum set when he was only two years old. Since then, Michael has developed into a very talented performer.

Michael Beauclerc had a unique high school education, majoring in music and drama at the Integrated Arts Program at Peterborough Collegiate and Vocational School. This allowed him to focus on his true interests at a young age. Michael later received a diploma with honours in Performance Music from Cambrian College, where he was a percussion major and vocal minor. His studies focused on classical mallet and Latin hand percussion, as well as jazz drumset.

Since the age of eighteen, Michael Beauclerc has taught students of all ages and levels. He has composed and instructed for several drum corps and indoor drumlines, and taught private lessons at Wayne's Music World in Peterborough, and the Cambrian College Music Academy in Sudbury.

Although he enjoys teaching, Michael's greatest love is performing. He played in his first rock group at the age of twelve, and has toured across North America in several world-class drum corps. Michael has performed as a drummer with, among others, Felix and the Swing Cats, Beau Dixon, Deep Pocket, the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra, LOTUS, Canuck, Gauche, the Bohdi Trio, Weekend Dad, and Jemo. He has also performed as a hand percussionist with Smooth…Sounds of Santana, the Drum Adix, Doug Sole, Carrie Chesnutt, the Brian Quebec Trio, Michael Graham, Njacko Backo, Rick Lazar, Chendi, Slips 'n the High Fives, and The Arrogant Worms. He was also the lead percussionist and composer for the Junk Jammers, a “Stomp”-like percussion group at the CN Tower in Toronto.

In 2004, Michael Beauclerc published his first drum method book, “The Mad Practice Pad”. Distributed nationwide by Canadian Print Music Distributors, “The Mad Practice Pad” is the only practice pad method book available, and was an overnight success. It is now in its second edition and available in the United States through Music 4 All. He is currently developing several other publications including a drumline development book.

Currently, Michael is a busy marching percussion clinician for Yamaha Canada, the percussion head of the Saint Michael's College School Drumline in Toronto, an instructor and clinician at the Soul Drums Academy of Percussive Arts in North York, and a substitute for the music faculty at Saint Michael's College School in Toronto. He is also a busy performer in several jazz, rock, drum n' bass, and funk groups throughout southern and central Ontario. Michael endorses Yamaha Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, and Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets.
