A native of Port Hope, Ian Osborn (Splinter) moved to Peterborough after attending
Trent U in the early '70s. As a musician he has played with many
bands, though it is his creative work in the studio that has brought
him the most recognition, composing numerous works for multi-media
performance and a dozen eclectic solo projects under the name
Splinter. As an audio engineer he has worked with Blue Rodeo, Hank
Snow and The Silver Hearts and as co-founder of Backlash Projects,
an independent ‘recording community’, he has enabled over 175
local music recordings since 1993.
Ian Osborn (Splinter) has been recording solo projects since 1995. To date, he
has completed fifteen CDRs as well as numerous shorter works for
performance and video soundtracks. He considers himself very
fortunate to have benefited from the musical and technical
contributions of so many talented and wonderful people within the
Peterborough scene.

"My music is dark, romantic,
rhythmic and bass-driven.I draw endless inspiration from old movies,
wild animals, and redheads. As a disciple of the Nyabinghi and a
student of the Gnostics, I wear the Conquering Lion on one arm and
Baphomet on the other. All my guitars have names...but my amplifiers
don't."
