Darwegian Wood writes:
Based in Peterborough, Ontario,
Canada Andy McDonald and Rod MacDonald are the acoustic guitar,
singer-songwriter, duo Darwegian Wood. The name comes from the idea
that this simple, popular acoustic instrument, constructed mainly
made of wood, has evolved into an expressive solo instrument.
Darwegian Wood has existed in its current form for two years. While
still playing with various local bands, Andy and Rod find that
Darwegian Wood is the perfect musical outlet for their unique blend
of songwriting and entertainment.
Darwegian Wood performs music by
artists such as Neil Young, Blue Rodeo, John Mayer, Jack Johnston,
The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and The Bare Naked Ladies
but still maintains a sound all their own. Their original
compositions cover a broad range of experiences; from love found
"That's how love can find you, round the corner in a park (Round the
Corner), love lost, social struggles (Last Train), to the simple joy
of the dog's life, "Maybe tomorrow the sun will shine, make a bright
piece of carpet to warm my hide" (Dog Daze), or the exhilaration of
riding a snowmobile (not MACHINE!) "Jump on the Cat and baby we’ll
fly, there’s two hundred horses to ride, in my Thundercat" (Thundercat).
In addition to complementary guitar playing, Rod and Andy also
flavour their musical offerings with harmonica, mandolin and
whistling.
Darwegian Wood can provide the
perfect musical background or primary entertainment for restaurants,
pubs, patios, private parties and also play for charity events. Let
Andy and Rod come and share their joy of making music with your
group!
Rod and Andy also play in the
bands The Thunderkatz and Teachers Pet
