The Conestokers are Peterborough's self-proclaimed egghead outlaws
of country music. Now in their tenth year, the band has evolved from
its origins as an old-time country band hosting the now defunct
monthly Country Cabaret at the Gordon Best Theatre into a band of
alt.country rockers performing original material from lead singer
Rob Wilkes.
Joining Rob (who also plays guitar and harmonica with the band) are
founding members John MacEwen on drums, Richard Higham on bass and
Curtis Dreidger on fiddle, mandolin and guitar. The multi-talented
Driedger also arranges the Conestokers' layered back-up vocals with
long time member Allie Hearn, who manages to join the band despite
her job as professor of Media Studies at the University of Western
Ontario.
