Affectionately referred to as "Mr. Soul", Buzz Thompson is a prominent and well-respected figure in Peterborough's Music Scene. Buzz was a founding member of The Hangmen in the 60's, and played with various acts including Gary and the Goodtimes before  eventually joining up with Max Mouse and the Gorillas with whom he recorded two of his original songs. For over 15 years, Buzz played guitar and harmonica and backup vocals with Ronnie Hawkins & The Hawks. 

Buzz is well known to musicians in both North America and Europe. He has recorded with Ronnie Hawkins, The Band, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins Kris Kristofferson and Jeff Healey. He has also played alongside Domenic Trioano and George Oliver at a special Tribute to Ronnie Hawkins in 2003.

Buzz Thompson has been inducted into the Peterborough Pathway of Fame in Del Crary Park
