Born in Peterborough September 4, 1942

Born and raised in Peterborough, Brian studied music composition at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto, with graduate degrees in both composition and musicology. He has been professor of music at McGill University in Montreal since 1972. A distinguished composer, he has written more than eighty works, including orchestral music, concertos, chamber music and works for solo instruments, which have been performed both in Canada and abroad.
