The Black Fly Boogie Band is a working band that has been together
for nearly five years. The band was started back in the mid 90s with
Garry McKnight on rythmn guitar and Larry Burnett on lead
guitar.Derrick King (bass Guitar) was added to the band in late fall
of 2004 and Jody Anderson (drums) was added in spring of 2005. We
played as a four piece band for six months then Ron Finner sat in
with us on keyboard one afternoon and has been with us ever since.
As a five piece band,we continue to do bookings based on excellent
reviews. We do a mix of songs based on the type of crowd we are
playing for and can play venues of classic country,new country,rock
and roll with some classic rock. In 2006 we had 60 plus bookings
around the area playing everything from bars, large outdoor
concerts,fairs and weddings. After playing on a number of make shift
old hay wagon stages we constructed our own stage which we use for
our outdoor concerts and can be seen on our videos. The stage is
also available for rent for outdoor events. In 2007 we are looking
for a bigger and better year with the making of our first C.D.,to be
released some time in April with some original music by the band and
Opening for Emerson Drive band at Sin City bar in Peterborough.
These are a couple of things in the future that we are looking
forward to.
