I've been playing Mapex drums since the start and have always been blown away by their quality and overall product. My first Mapex kit was a 6 piece Saturn series studio configuration in Transparent Amber finish. I still occasionally play that kit, almost 7 years since I bought it and have never had a problem with it. With Mapex I've always found that the drums they make exceed any and all expectations, the sound I get from them is like nothing else. Even though I've recently downsized my kit significantly (to a 4 piece Orion series in Transparent Red) I can still draw from the drums and create things I thought I could only imagine without any effort. They just make you play better, period. Above and beyond the drums themselves, Mapex has a great roster of players who are constantly pushing the envelope with their own unique styles, and it's an honor to be part of the same great movement of drummers.
